Hotel Monterey Osaka

We had a lovely stay for an extended holiday in Japan.

We thoroughly enjoyed this stay. The hotel was fairly clean, facilities were clean, good and perfect location not far from the trains and subways around Osaka, the rail station, eateries and a pleasant neighbourhood and food places and shops.

i have stayed in the guest room with great amenities. the employees are incredibly nice and welcoming.

It was very comfortable, clean, located well for transport and shopping and had really great blackout shutters. The extras (toiletries etc) were very good.

That there was absolutely no WiFi. We had stayed at other hotels that had lan cables in each room as this hotel did also, however those hotels had wifi in one or more public spaces. Perhaps as the Monterey do have lovely facilities for events they could look at providing wifi on one level of the hotel. As we were only traveling with an ipad and were relying on wifi for important communications, having to pay and use a computer at only one point in the hotel was a bit of a problem for us.

Location. Underground entrance from subways & jr rail. If you are fluent in Japanese & looking for a quaint chapel to get married in, in a hotel seemingly set up entirely round the wedding traffic, then I guess it is great.

Smelled badly of smoking. Virtually no English in signage nor staff. Smelled badly of smoking. Could do with a map on how to find the subway entrance in the rain. Smelled badly of smoking. Expensive for the offer beyond sense. Small rooms. No double rooms. "Restaurants" lacked variety & were costly. Sort of quirky in caricature period-looking furnishing, but too small in room features. No wifi. The computer was "out of service". No lobby for a sit down & plan. Oh, & the stench of smoking in the front desk area & elevators was awful.

Outstandingly accommodating and amicable staff and unique hotel.

New-fashioned and functional rooms with great amenities.

- Too near with train track so we can hear the train if it pass and it quite noisy when we open the window

The room is a little bit small

luxurious hotel in a comfortable location that close to railway that was noise during nights, greatly enjoyed this place. location: the venue was not far from train station and restaurants/stores, eateries, and the shopping area. found the bar with perfect drinks 400 feet away. the beds were comfortable and the triple room itself was reasonably sized and silent.

great access to osaka's best parks and attractions

I loved how easy it was to walk to the Floating Garden Observatory, just 1.5 km away, while Osaka Castle Park was a pleasant stroll of about 3.5 km, allowing me to soak in the city's beauty without needing public transport. This place was a total gem for a single traveler seeking famous landmarks and relaxing green spaces.

Nice, quaint design. Close to the Osaka station and shops, with convenient underground access. Close to the airport limo bus.

location is ok, walk distance to Osaka JR station subway station. room service is good.

room size is pretty small for a family of 3.

Furniture layout is awkward!!! Train noise is noticeable and could disrupt your rest!!! Dust accumulating underneath the bed is unappealing!!!

The room was not as large as it looks on the website.

The walls were thin and you can hear everything going on in other rooms. Also room was smoking room, they didn't ask us for smoking or non smoking. Sheets smelled like smoke. Bed and pillows very hard. Room was very small!!

pleasant stay with room for improvement

The old-world elegance of the decor provided a calming atmosphere. The staff were genuinely kind and attentive to my requests.

The view from my room was less than ideal.
